Hey everyone! Spring and summer are the times of year that I look forward to the most. If I had to choose which time of the year I enjoy more, I’d probably say spring because the weather starts to get warm outside, but not too warm out. As in, no heat waves. Although, I do love the season of summer because swimming is a thing again, and there’s nothing better than a dip in the pool when it’s 90 degrees out but feels more like it’s over 100 degrees out. It’s cold outside. Pumpkin scented anything is everywhere from coffee to donuts. Seasonal decorations are up. That could only mean one thing. The season of Fall is here! There’s much to appreciate about this time of year during the season of Fall. It’s the season where the leaves on the trees change to beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. It’s the season of Halloween. It’s the season where there’s a bit of a chill in the air where it’s cold but not too cold out. It’s the season of Thanksgiving. There’s much to appreciate about this time of year, indeed. Although, when the season of Fall arrives what returns along with it is, of course, the dreaded Daylight Savings Time! Summer is that time of year, for me, that really makes life worth living. Days filled with sunshine and blue skies. Days where the weather outside may be way too warm out, but that doesn’t really matter so much because swimming in a pool or the beach is always there. And lastly, it’s been the days of summer that, in the past, had always been able to bring a sense of hope and happiness to me that today would be a good day. When I was younger and heard phrases like “winter blues” or “seasonal depression”, I never really quite understood it. I never understood why just because winter comes a knocking on back into town why that would affect someone’s mood. As I’ve gotten older, I get it.
The extreme cold in the air, along with early afternoons of the sun going away to make room for darkness in the sky are just a few reasons why I now understand why the months of winter would make someone’s attitude go from joyful to “eh”. Continue reading “Trying To Get Past Those Winter Blues… Oh, hey Seasonal Depression!”
It’s been a little over a week ago now since the month of December has arrived back on into town. It’s a month filled with holiday cheer and joy. It’s a time of year when the movie “Frozen” and its cast of characters pop up on the mind, with Elsa singing “Let It Go” in the background. You know… Fun stuff! On the opposite side of that fun, it’s also a month filled with cold, a month into that “glorious” thing of daylight savings (why daylight savings… but why??????), and another month I just long for the good old days of summer. Continue reading “Seriously, though… I Miss Summer!”
