When Real Life Turns Into An Existential TV Drama…

I’ve always been a fan of existential tv dramas.  I would say, though, that my appreciation for television series that dealt with that question of “Why?”, about life, didn’t come until a bit later in life for me.  Growing up, for the most part, I was a fairly happy person on most days.  I had friends, did okay in school, and participated in extracurricular activities.  Then high school ended.  In the years that followed, my friends stayed friends with one another and forgot about me, my stomach issues decided how my day would go, and that happy person I remembered being on most days seemed to disappear along with much of my self confidence.  So, to say the least, existential tv dramas were series on television that I came to appreciate, understand and relate to. TV Reboots and Revivals, OH MY! The Popular Trend That Has Taken Over The TV Airwaves

Trends on television are nothing new.  One season it may seem as though every show is covering the same topic and subject matter.  When this happens it’s referred to as a “trend”.  A TV trend tends to begin among series when Networks take notice of what shows are popular with audiences.  The following year Networks will then roll on out new series on their respective channels.  These new series from the Networks are usually more or less copycat like series trying to find that same level of success as that TV Show that became “Must Watch TV” for many.  The trend of Networks producing shows that are similar to series that are “It Shows of the Moment” happen every year with television. It’s That Time of Year TV Nerd Folks, For Your Fave TV Shows To Be Cancelled….

A few weeks ago now it started again.  It caught me by surprise.  It then suddenly hit me of how it was now the month of May and how that could only mean one thing.  Well, it means one thing for that of television.  Basically every May the main television networks of NBC, ABC, CBS,  FOX, and the CW come together in New York for a week with an event called the “TV Upfronts”.  It’s this during this time where these networks showcase all of their upcoming programming for the next season of television on their respective channels.
