In the past, when it came to deciding on what books I wanted to read I would pick a book based on if I was in the mood to read that book. I’ve never made a list of books I wanted to read for a year before because I’d usually end up changing my mind on what I wanted to read by the time I was finished reading the book I was currently reading. But this year, I wanted to change that. And so here’s something I’d never thought I’d say, this year I’m making a list of books I want to read for the year. Continue reading “What To Read? My Reading Goals For 2021”
Hey everyone! I’ve always wanted to do a weekly column on my blog. Since starting a blog though, I’ve never been able to stick to a regular posting schedule when it comes to publishing my articles. And so, that’s why after all this time of having a blog I’ve never had a weekly column on my blog thus far. I’m still not sure I’ll be able to stick to a schedule of publishing a new article every week, but I thought I would give it a try anyway. This new year started off great for this gal in the reading bookworm department. I finished my first book read of the new year in January. Which was the novel “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han. Curious about this gal’s thoughts on that lovely novel & its film adaptation? Check out […]
This new year started off great for this gal in the reading bookworm department. I finished my first book read of the new year in January. Which was the novel “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han. Then this slow as can be bookworm that I am, actually somehow managed to finish my second book read of this very new year in February. Which was “Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda” by Becky Albertalli. Then came March, and I started to read my third book read of the year “In a Dark, Dark Wood” by Ruth Ware. Between working on articles for my blog, I just didn’t end up finishing this book until…… (hold for dramatic effect)….. JUNE! All bookworms out there reading this, I know, I know, “Major Bookworm Nerd Fail” here. I realize this. But at the end of the day, I did finally finish reading this book. It just took way longer to accomplish reading completely than I would have initially of expected when I started reading it way back in the month of March.

Hey All! Okay, so I had one reading goal initially for myself when entering this New Year of 2019 for when it came to dealing with the topic of what books to read. I had the goal of reading more novels that don’t have any adaptations as of yet, you know read to read and not watch a film/tv version of it afterwards.
Okay, so as you can tell by now the first book that I finished reading in this year of 2019 so far was indeed a book that does in fact have an adaptation. At some point during this New Year, I do hope to read more books that don’t have an adaptation at the point I’m reading them, I promise. Technically, I did start to read “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” during the late fall months of 2018 before the New Year began so that reading goal of mine didn’t yet apply, I’ll say. And being somewhat of a slow bookworm reader I finished reading this novel a few months later. So even though I started reading this in late 2018, I didn’t finish reading it until the second week of January. Thus, making it my first official book read of 2019! Oh, for how exciting it is for that moment where you finish reading just a really great book, you know! Slow Bookworm Reader (that is I) says a “Heck Yes” to that! “Yup!”. “Most Definitely!”. “I think it’s decided. Definitely this one!”. “Yipee! I made my decision, it’s this one for sure!”. Those are just a few of the things I say when thinking I’ve finally made my decision and decided on what next book I’d like to read. I feel so confident in these moments that I’ve made my final decision on choosing that next book. I feel that complete confidence that I would never, ever possibly change my mind. And then it happens…. Continue reading “The Indecisive Reader’s Guide To Choosing A Book And Reading List of 2018…..”
*DISCLAIMER – In this article, I will be discussing the books and TV series of Sweetbitter, Sharp Objects, and You. This article contains spoilers from these books/shows as I discuss my thoughts on them. Okay, cool? Now that that’s out of the way, enjoy fellow Pop Culture Nerds.*
These days book adaptations are constantly happening. Whether it be a TV series, a movie, a stage play, books are a constant source for great material. 2018 was once again a year where tons of books got that adaptation treatment of being formed into another source of entertainment for us all. I envy people who can concentrate long enough when at the beach or the pool to take time out to read a book. Heck, some people even have a reading list of books just for the summer to read at those places and actually stick to that reading list and read and finish those books at those places. Oh, to have such the concentration. Continue reading “With That Summer Feeling Finally Here….. Reading Outdoors is The Last Thing I’ll Be Doing…..”
As I continue to get older year by year, I have become ever so appreciative for that of nostalgia. It seems others these days are appreciating that greatness that nostalgia is as well. The 90s are making a comeback with a return of some of my favorite things to have come out of that decade saying “Hey!” again. When I think back on to the times of the 90s, I think Nickelodeon, friendship bracelets, Friday nights with TGIF on ABC,Farley’s Gummy Fruit Snacks and The BabySitter’s Club. Yes, I am that person that will be writing about reading and novels, but has a reference related to that of TV for her title. Yup, that’s me, Jodi. For those of you unfamiliar with that little tune, it’s similar to that of the theme song for a show called New Girl. Which recently ended its run on FOX, not so long ago. New Girl’s theme song was a bit fun and a bit quirky. So what better way to start this article about books, than a reference to one of the cutest theme songs in all of TV land.
Being the TV Nerd that I am, I had to make a TV reference at least once on here in this article of mine. Anyways, moving now on to the what this article is actually all about. Which is that of books or novels, or whatever you prefer to call your reading time item. Continue reading “Who’s That Girl…..Who’s That Girl That Buys A Book and Takes Forever to Start Reading It?……. It’s Jodi!”
As someone who grew up in the 1990s, I was an avid fan of “The Baby Sitter’s Club”. At one point I probably owned every book. As I got older reading for the joy of it stopped simply because I didn’t have the time whether it be school, extracurricular activities, or my small but existing social life. Anyways, it wasn’t until years later, that I finally got back into reading for the fun of it again. Continue reading “How Theater, Television, and Movies Got Me Into Reading Again!”
