Thank You For Your Patience, Now Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Program…

Forever TV Show

Hey.  I wasn’t sure I was going to write this article, but I’ve got nothing else to do.  Well, that’s not completely true.  I definitely need to dust the blinds on my windows, but I’m not really in the mood to do that at the moment.  I find myself wanting to write this article instead, so here goes.

The last year, more so the last few months, I’ve been pretty depressed.  Usually, in the past, when I’ve felt like this I’ve always had Broadway shows to rely on to get me through those times of sadness or distress for a pick me up to lift my spirits.  Yes, Broadway is back, but everything feels so hectic right now, so it’ll probably be a few more months till I see a show again if I’m lucky enough to.

Instead of having Broadway shows to rely on for a mood uplifter, I turned to writing on my blog.  Was writing able to have that same mood uplifter effect as seeing a Broadway show for me, where my mood would turn from sad to happy just like that?  No, definitely not.  Right now though, writing is really about all I have to take my mind away from reality.  Even when I’m talking about life and how I’m feeling, I’m writing, I’m doing something.  I’m getting how I feel out, instead of holding it all in.  Writing hasn’t healed how I’m feeling, but it has helped.

I find myself feeling now though, that I’m at a place where I’m ready to talk about things in pop culture on a regular basis again, and put how I’m feeling and my thoughts on life to the side for a while.  I hope you all weren’t too annoyed with my many recent articles that were basically saying “I’m sad right now” over and over and over again.  After a while, I started to feel like a broken record and found myself thinking to myself “Okay, Jodi, it’s time to move on to something else”

The funny thing is I still love, love, love all things in pop culture, and at the same time my love for all things in pop culture isn’t quite as there as it was before.  I don’t watch nearly as much TV as I once did.  As far as Broadway shows, I haven’t seen anything since November of 2019.  Maybe when life feels more like life again, my love for all things in pop culture will return along with it.

I used to get so flipping excited any time I would see a Broadway show commercial on TV, or a Broadway show perform a number from their show on TV.  The joy and excitement I used to feel anytime I would see anything related to Broadway on TV is, at the moment, not there.  Unless I can see Broadway shows again on a regular basis, my excitement for all things in pop culture just won’t be there.

Although, this year, I did get back to reading more books again, so that’s something.  Currently, I’m reading my fifth book of the year, Normal People by Sally Rooney.  I’m about halfway through reading the book and I think I’ve found another book to add to my list of favorite books!  Love this book!  Can’t wait to watch the TV adaptation on Hulu after I finish reading it!

Originally, my blog was supposed to be just about things in pop culture with an occasional article here and there about my thoughts on life.  Somewhere along the way though, my blog became a blog that was more than just about things in pop culture.  It became a place where I could go and talk about life, and how I’m feeling.  Even though I don’t quite feel like the pop culture nerd I once used to be, I hope that by writing about things in pop culture again, I can get to that place again.

Wait!  Before I go!

I love to hear what your current favorites in pop culture are!

What are your current favorite TV shows, books, theater shows, movies, songs?

Looking forward to hearing what your current favorites in pop culture are in the comments!

Thanks for sticking with me and my blog during my sad articles.  I can’t wait though, to get back to talking about things in pop culture with all of you again soon!  Next time you visit my blog, it’ll be about my favorite things in pop culture and not about me and my feelings.  Yeah to that!

As always, thanks so much for listening and reading!  Until Next Time!

Hi! I’m Jodi! My dream is to live in NYC, see a Broadway show every single day, and write about the arts for a living. Until that delightful day arrives, I’ll be over here blogging about my love of the arts!

  1. Don’t you worry, that’s just a sign of depression being bad ❤️ your love is very much still there and intact. So glad you feel better enough to attempt getting back into it! That’s good news, but please don’t be too hard on yourself xx

Actually, I love those posts on the more « my writing ramblings that’s not really my usual post format but just- speaking to the void because I *might* want it to talk back to me? » because I actually do the same thing 🤣😅 I have two planned now.. one for Dec 23 about being a grinch, and dec 27th birthday monologue.

  2. It helps to talk (or write in this case) and a lot of times it helps to read that someone else is feelings the same and also getting through day by day. So write what you feel!

As to current favorites it’s definitely Hawkeye, The Witcher and not pop culture but trying to find some Christmas spirit here’s hoping 🙂

    1. I really appreciate your comment. I thought maybe I was getting annoying by constantly saying how I’ve been feeling in most of my recent articles, so it’s nice to hear you say that =) My goal is to try and write about things that used to bring me joy and hopefully that by writing about things that used to bring me joy that will help lift my spirits back up. That’s my goal, but I’m sure I’ll probably write about life and my feelings here and there, but hopefully not as much as I have been.

I haven’t watched any of the Marvel series yet, but I definitely want to at some point. I haven’t seen any of the Marvel movies, so that’s why I haven’t watched any of the shows yet. I heard in Hawkeye there’s a musical, so cool! I haven’t seen The Witcher yet either, but I’ve heard that’s a really good show as well. I just finished watching Season 2 of The Morning Show, such a good show!

I’m sure you’ll find some Christmas spirit =) Watch the movie Elf, that’s a great film to watch during the holiday season!
