Hey everyone! I love TV, as we all know. Well, at least those of you who follow this gal’s blog know that. Anyways, many of my absolute favorite TV shows currently on TV are shows that have not graced the small screen in quite a while because basically every TV show that was in production when life went on pause also paused as well. But, that’s about to change because my favorite TV shows are returning!!!
Okay, so you’re probably wondering what TV shows I’m talking about? Those shows would be Succession on HBO, Russian Doll on Netflix, and YOU on Netflix. Oh, how I’ve missed these shows! Out of these three shows, I have to say I’ve missed Succession the most because, as I like to say, Succession is currently the best show on TV! Well, at least in my opinion it’s the best show currently on TV. I look forward every year to this high stakes drama that has one of the best theme songs, like ever!
What more can I say about the show Succession other than it’s just brilliant! The acting on this show is amazing! The writing on this show is, once again, amazing! Succession is a show where you literally have no idea what will happen next. To say the least, I can not wait for the new season to begin!
Now on to my next favorite TV show returning! Russian Doll’s first season was an existential dream of a TV show, and I love any kind of show on TV that delves into questioning the meaning of life. In Russian Doll *spoiler for those of you who have yet to tune into this amazing show, like watch this show already!*, the lead of the series continues to relive the same day over and over again.
Despite being a fan of this type of storytelling, I must say, after the year that was 2020 where literally every day felt as though it was literally the same day as the one before it, I’m not sure I enjoy this type of storytelling as much as I did before. Watching a story on TV now where someone is reliving the same day over and over again, you know, is a bit difficult after living in a time of pause. Regardless of all that, Russian Doll is still very much a show worth watching. And I will for sure be tuning into Season 2 as soon as it is on Netflix!
Now on to my last favorite returning show! YOU on Netflix! Oh man, this show is, for sure, one of the most twisted and crazy shows I have ever seen on TV. Originally, YOU first premiered on the Lifetime network, which is literally the perfect network for this show. Despite YOU being on the perfect network when it was on Lifetime, the series pretty much went under the radar until the show transferred to the streaming service Netflix, where it has since become one the streaming services most watched series.
The first two seasons of YOU were based on a series of books written by Caroline Kepnes. And just last spring, a third book in the YOU series was released. I actually had no idea the third book in the series came out until this summer. You better believe though once I found out about this I ran to the bookstore to pick up a copy, and thankfully the store had a copy of this long awaited read!
Have I read the third book in the YOU series yet? I have not. Although, I, of course, definitely plan on reading the book soon, hopefully. When it comes to book adaptations, I prefer to read a book and then watch the book adaptation. I hope I can be strong enough to resist checking out the latest season of the show until I read the third installment of the book series, but who knows.
I have absolutely no idea what any of these shows’ latest seasons will be about, and that’s the way I like it. I like to be surprised when it comes to TV show stories. As in, I avoid spoilers! I think that makes watching a show way more fun and exciting!

Russian Doll returns to Netflix…..? I couldn’t find a release date for the show’s next season, but more than likely Season 2 of Russian Doll will be premiering sometime in 2022.
