Emmy Award Nominations Are Tomorrow!

TV Show

Hey everyone!  This year’s Emmy Award Nominations are set to be announced tomorrow!  I call myself a pop culture nerd, but I kind of actually forgot about this until yesterday.  Can I still call myself a pop culture nerd if I forgot that the Emmy Award Nominations are announced every July?  I hope so!

Before I get into what TV shows I hope to see receive a nomination, I must first say that this TV Nerd is not up to date on every returning show or new TV show of the last year.  With that being said, I definitely did watch a lot of television during the last year, so there are, for sure, lots of TV shows that I hope to see receive an Emmy Award Nomination.

A TV show needs to have premiered between June 1st of 2020 to May 31st of this current year to receive a nomination for this year’s awards.

Okay, so here are my predictions for what TV shows (comedy / musical and drama) I think (and hope) will receive a nomination for this year’s Emmy Awards!

Best Comedy or Musical Series

Good Girls (NBC)

Hacks (HBO Max)

Made For Love (HBO Max)

The Flight Attendant (HBO Max)

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (NBC), I also must add here #SaveZoeysPlaylist (If you read my last article you understand this)

Best Drama Series

Bridgerton (Netflix)

The Crown (Netflix)

The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu)

The Mandalorian (Disney +)

The Wilds (Amazon)

You might be wondering “Jodi, why didn’t you include shows like Ted Lasso, Girls5eva, and The Good Fight on your list of TV show predictions for this year’s Emmy Award Nominations?”  The answer to that question is….. I don’t have the streaming services that these TV shows are on, and while I’ve heard great things about these series, series which are very likely to receive a nomination based on how amazing these shows are, I decided to only pick TV shows I have actually watched.

On a side note, I haven’t actually finished the entire seasons of Hacks and Made For Love, but based on the episodes I have seen, these are two new series that I thought of when thinking of shows I’d like to see receive a nomination.

On another side note, I actually haven’t seen the latest season of The Handmaid’s Tale (though I definitely plan on checking it out very soon), but based on how I’ve heard such good things about the latest season I thought I’d include this show as one of my pick’s for this year’s nominations for best drama series.

Besides Hacks, Made For Love, and the current season of The Handmaid’s Tale, I have watched the entire seasons for the shows I did include in my list of shows I think (and hope) will receive an Emmy Award Nomination.  I did mention before how I am not caught up on absolutely every single television show at the moment because, well, that’s literally impossible.  So, for not being caught up on every single television show that was made within the last year, I did my best when deciding what new shows and returning shows I thought were the best of this past year.

At the end of the day, awards aren’t everything, but it’s always fun to predict what TV shows you think (and hope) will receive an Emmy Award Nomination.

As always, thanks so much for reading!
